Fluid handling for organ-on-a-chip systems
Organ-on-a-chip systems (also known as biochips) enable the simulation of human organ functions outside the body. They complement animal testing and provide a promising alternative for many applications. Human cells are cultured in microfluidic channels and continuously supplied with cell culture medium. > read more

Scalable end-to-end manufacturing of mRNA lipid nanoparticles
The production of mRNA-based therapeutics involves a series of highly sensitive process steps, ranging from in vitro transcription (IVT) and enzymatic reactions to purification, encapsulation of mRNA into lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), and sterile filtration. > read more

Tangential flow filtration for biologics purification
Tangential flow filtration (TFF) is an established method for the purification and concentration of biologics. The technology is widely used in the production of monoclonal antibodies, vaccines, enzymes, and other biopharmaceutical products. > read more

Contactless sample introduction for mass spectrometry
Mass spectrometry (MS) is an established analytical technique for the characterization of chemical and biological samples in research, diagnostics, and drug discovery. To achieve high sample throughput, contactless sample introduction methods are increasingly being used. > read more

Blood sample characterization in immunohematology
Automated immunohematology analyzers are used for the characterization of blood samples. Typical applications include blood typing, Rh factor determination, antibody screening, and the testing of blood products prior to transfusion. > read more

High-throughput sample preparation for PCR and molecular diagnostics
Molecular diagnostic methods such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) rely on reproducible sample preparation to generate reliable analytical results. In modern high-throughput systems, large numbers of samples are processed automatically, for example in infectious and respiratory disease diagnostics, transplant monitoring, and oncology. > read more

Extraction of nucleic acids for in-vitro diagnostics
Sample preparation is a critical step in in-vitro diagnostics. Before analysis can take place, relevant target components must be isolated from patient samples such as blood, tissue, or cell material. In molecular diagnostic workflows, nucleic acids such as DNA and RNA are purified and prepared for downstream analysis. > read more

Efficient Sample Preparation
Before the analysis of viruses, bacteria, or various blood parameters can begin in an automated analyzer, the sample must first be prepared. Typically, just a few microliters of a solution containing chemicals and enzymes are added to the sample to enable the examination of the sample content. > read more

Three-dimensional growth of human endothelial cells in an automated cell culture experiment container during the SpaceX CRS-8 ISS space mission- The SPHEROIDS project
3D-cell culture: human endothelia cells where sent to ISS in an automated cell culture experiment, to investigate the formation of three dimensional structures in micro gravity. Feeding of the cells with cell culture medium and fixation at the end of the experiment was done using a micro annular gear pump mzr-2921 of the low pressure series.
