Internship with HNP Mikrosysteme

Hello,

My name is Noah Duchan, and I am a student attending the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan (US). This past month, July 2014, I have had the privilege to conduct an internship with HNP Mikrosysteme, a world leader in the design, manufacture, and sale of micro annular gear pumps. The most amazing thing for me is the incredibly broad range of applications for such specific product. Pumps designed by HNPM can be found on the International Space Station, and at the same time they may have had a hand in making your soda. With a product so versatile, it is no surprise to find that the engineers, designers, and everyone else involved is motivated and brilliant. As a student studying to become an engineer, I can say that I have found more than a few role models here.

At HNPM, I felt as welcome and valued as if I were a fellow employee. My input was taken seriously, and my learning was made a priority by everyone. I was given tasks and responsibilities and was expected to deliver results, and I am proud to say that I did. Time was taken to show me how a product goes from a design to reality, with all the steps in between, and then I was assigned a piece of that process. Over the course of my internship, I have learned more about the engineering process than I could have hoped.

I will remember my time with HNPM fondly as my first real world engineering experience, and I would like to think HNPM will remember me as well. My deepest thanks to all those who gave me this wonderful opportunity!

Noah
