Thomas Weisener, CEO, expressed his thanks with the words: "After 25 years from a start-up to a medium-sized company - that's a great team effort around an innovative idea with a lot of strength." And Gerald Vögele, Technical Director, summarizes the exciting tasks for micropumps as follows: "They range from the ocean to the space, from blood analysis to theater blood and from Australia to the USA."

How it started: From research to market

At the beginning of the 1990s, many innovative micro-scale products were developed on the basis of new micro-technical manufacturing processes. At the Fraunhofer IPA in Stuttgart, the dimensions of the proven trochoid geared displacement pump were made in micro-measurements. Thomas Weisener and Gerald Vögele were involved in this development process. The result was the first »micro annular gear pump«, in 1994.

Together with Karl J. Werner, Thomas Weisener and Gerald Vögele founded HNP Mikrosysteme GmbH in 1996 with the focus of micro annular gear pumps. In 1998, they started their way in Parchim with 5 employees and a pump prototype.

This way to the right materials and the market was challenging - but ultimately successful. The mzr-pump was given a unique profile - small footprint, long service life, high-performance materials and maximum of precision. HNPM became a market leader for micropumps. The number of employees and customers increased continuously.

The product range became larger with additional series and sizes of micro annular gear pumps. In 2009, the design of dosing systems was launched with MoDoS and shortly afterwards the company added its own filter series.

The company separated from the Hydraulik Nord Group in 2007 and since then it is owned by a small group of shareholders around the company founders. In 2013, the company moved to Schwerin. It also has an office in Strasbourg and a subsidiary in Chicago.
